JFS SOVA Thanksgiving Distribution Serves Over 1,000 Families
On Friday November 19th, the JFS SOVA Food and Community Resource Program held its annual drive-thru Thanksgiving Food Distribution, distributing turkeys and other Thanksgiving staples to 1,118 families.

Café Europa: Reunited and It Feels So Good!
Clients of Café Europa, JFSLA’s social program for survivors of the Holocaust, recently reunited in person after more than a year and half apart. As of October 5th, 2021, Café Europa’s weekly gatherings are back in person on Tuesdays at JFS Gunther-Hirsh Family Center and on Thursdays at the JFS Valley Storefront. Together again, they laughed, sang, and danced together.
JFS Hope Receives Homeless Prevention Grant from City of Los Angeles
JFS Hope Domestic Violence Services (JFS Hope) has received a grant from the City of Los Angeles’ brand new Survivors First Homelessness Prevention Program, the first permanent housing program in the city dedicated to survivors of domestic violence.
JFS Hope’s Kitty Glass Receives Domestic Violence Award for Excellence in Service
On Tuesday, October 19th, JFS Hope Community Outreach Coordinator, Kitty Glass, was awarded the Award for Excellence in Service by the LA County Domestic Violence Council and LA City Domestic Violence Alliance at their annual DVA/DVC 2021 Events & Awards Celebration. The Award for Excellence in Service recognizes outstanding efforts in the prevention of and/or intervention in domestic violence in Los Angeles County.

JFS Arts, Wellness, and Engagement Program (AWE) for Older Adults Gets Creative
Through Zoom, program coordinators have been able to offer a mix of interesting new content to AWE members including virtual museum tours, educational talks, cooking classes, art classes, monthly musical performances, monthly opera series, and more.

JFS’ Addiction Prevention & Education Services (ADAP) provide an array of substance abuse prevention, education, and support services to the community. Our skilled clinicians conduct presentations, trainings, and workshops to raise awareness about the risks of alcohol and drug use, and offer prevention information, drug education, consultation, referrals, and more. These services are funded by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Substance Abuse Prevention and Control.
