On Tuesday, October 19th, JFS Hope Community Outreach Coordinator, Kitty Glass, was awarded the Award for Excellence in Service by the LA County Domestic Violence Council and LA City Domestic Violence Alliance at their annual DVA/DVC 2021 Events & Awards Celebration. The Award for Excellence in Service recognizes outstanding efforts in the prevention of and/or intervention in domestic violence in Los Angeles County.
Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian (D-Sherman Oaks) and Senator Bob Hertzberg (D-Van Nuys) celebrated California’s $5.7 million 2021 budget allocation to expand Jewish Family Service LA’s SOVA Community Food & Resource Program (JFS SOVA) in Van Nuys on Thursday.

Through Zoom, program coordinators have been able to offer a mix of interesting new content to AWE members including virtual museum tours, educational talks, cooking classes, art classes, monthly musical performances, monthly opera series, and more.
JFS’ Addiction Prevention & Education Services (ADAP) provide an array of substance abuse prevention, education, and support services to the community. Our skilled clinicians conduct presentations, trainings, and workshops to raise awareness about the risks of alcohol and drug use, and offer prevention information, drug education, consultation, referrals, and more. These services are funded by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Substance Abuse Prevention and Control.
JFS Care, Jewish Family Service LA’s home care division, has launched a new program that provides home care to previously homeless older adults residing in permanent supportive housing.
Nancy joined the JFS Board of Directors a few years ago when she was asked to be part of the Human Resources Committee by her now Human Resources Committee Co-Chair, Melanie Brunswick, and was later selected to be an official member of the Board.
