On Monday, June 27th, Anita & Stanley’s Kosher Café, Jewish Family Service LA’s senior dining center at the JFS Gunther-Hirsh Family Center, reopened for in-person dining for the first time in over two years. Clients arrived with smiles on their faces and expressed how happy they were to finally be able to socialize with others while having a delicious, nutritious, and free hot meal.
Last week, JFSLA installed the new and returning officers and members of its Board of Directors at an event held at the home of Shana Passman, a long-time board member and past Board Chair.

On Wednesday, May 25th, Jewish Family Service LA’s Chaverim program held its first in-person event in over two years at the JFS Valley Store Front Resource Center. It was a touching reunion, with tears and heartfelt emotions.
On Wednesday, June 8th, Jewish Family Service LA celebrated its dedicated family of volunteers. The virtual Volunteer Appreciation Event recognized three volunteers for their commitment to helping JFSLA serve the people of Los Angeles.
Eli Veitzer, JFS President and CEO, was appointed as a new Board member of the Network of Jewish Human Service Agencies (NJHSA) for a three-year term at the NJHSA Annual Meeting in May.
In an effort to encourage clients, staff, and volunteers to vote, JFSLA partnered with the LA County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk to host Flex Vote Centers at the JFS Valley Storefront in North Hollywood and the JFS SOVA Pantry in Van Nuys.

Jewish Family Service L.A. announced Tuesday the state of California gave it a $5.7 million grant to purchase the Van Nuys building that contains its food pantry program.
Jewish Family Service LA’s SOVA Community Food & Resource Program (JFS SOVA) was awarded a $5.7 million grant from California’s 2021 budget allocation to purchase and expand the property in Van Nuys that it has been renting since 2005.
Jewish Family Service LA was awarded $18.7 million from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany (Claims Conference) as part of a $720 million allocation to more than 300 social welfare organizations globally.
