Los Angeles homeless shelters are facing a major funding crisis—and programs serving survivors of domestic violence are among those at risk.
JFSLA President & CEO Eli Veitzer spoke with KNX News about the nearly 5,700 people experiencing homelessness after leaving violent relationships. JFSLA has received no federal funding for its transitional housing program since its contract ended March 31.
“We can’t put people out. We won’t put people out,” Veitzer said. “But there’s a limit to that.”
JFSLA is using contingency funds to maintain services, but shelters across Los Angeles cannot sustain this work indefinitely without the promised funding.
