President Donald Trump is once again taking aim at mail-in voting, announcing on Truth Social that he is leading the campaign to end the policy altogether.

“Elections can never be honest with mail-in ballots/voting, and everybody, in particular the Democrats, knows this,” he wrote. “I, and the Republican Party, will fight like hell to bring honesty and integrity back to our elections.”

Legal scholars said Trump does not have the authority to make mail-in voting illegal — only Congress can do that.

California is the state with the highest mail-in ballots in the country.

According to the California Secretary of State, mail-in ballots comprised 80% of general election votes in 2024.
