Volunteer - Older Adult

There are multiple opportunities to volunteer your time and skills working with older adults in our community. JFS provides a comprehensive array of services for older adults, with the goal of helping them remain healthy, active and independent in their own communities. Our local neighborhood centers offer friendly service and easy access throughout Los Angeles County. All of our community-based care services are designed to enable seniors to live in the least restrictive environment possible. Programs include essential mental health services, transportation, fitness activities, community dining, home delivered meals, in-home assessments, care management, recreational activities and special services for residents of Beverly Hills and Survivors of the Holocaust.

Volunteer Opportunities Include:

  • Visiting seniors in their home
  • Providing support and/or information by phone
  • Leading or assisting with activities
  • Teaching a class
  • Accompaning older adults on shopping trips or to doctor’s appointments
  • Assisting in senior fitness programs
  • Serving meals at a dining site
  • Helping with information, referrals, and paperwork completion
  • Facilitating wellness classes
  • Assisting at field trips and/or special events
  • Offering telephone reassurance to the homebound
  • Providing clerical and administrative support to staff members

Social services for Nazi victims have been supported by a grant from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.
JFSLA receives funds from the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Holocaust Survivor Emergency Assistance Fund, administered by the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany for the benefit of needy Jewish Nazi victims.
Funds have been provided by the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany for the Emergency Assistance Program for Nazi Victims at the discretion of the United States District Court supervising the lawsuit In Re: Holocaust Victim Assets Litigation (Swiss Banks).
