Food & Hunger

Ways you can help people experiencing food insecurity include: helping with food distribution at one of our food pantries, delivering meals to homebound older adults and people with diverse abilities, and assisting at the front desk and with intakes at our community food and resource program.

Current opportunities:

  • Helping at our food pantry in Van Nuys
    • We need help on Sundays-Fridays in the mornings
    • Volunteers assist with a variety of tasks such as: packing food bags and restocking. 
  • Helping at our food pantry on Pico and Robertson
    • We need help on Mondays-Thursdays in the mornings
    • Volunteers assist with a variety of tasks such as: packing food bags and restocking.
  • Helping rescue groceries for JFS SOVA Pantries
    • We need help Monday-Thursday, 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
    • Volunteers will assist with a variety of tasks such as: checking for food safety issues, sorting food, inputting data into the MealConnect App, communicating with SOVA staff to distribute product, report waste and food safety issues.
