Product Donations

SOVA depends on donations – from individuals, businesses, schools and religious groups among others – for the largest proportion of our overall food supply. We conduct ongoing food drives throughout the year placing donation barrels at key locations around the city. We also gratefully accept donations at any of our three pantry locations. We conduct targeted food drives at certain times of the year and each month we focus on one crucial item through our "Food of the Month".

You, your business, or your organization can make a real difference in the lives of people experiencing hunger and food insecurity by helping us with a donation. Among the most critically needed items are:

  • Nonperishable food including canned, bottled or packaged food products in their original and unopened container.
  • Refrigerated and frozen food items (only if donated by a retail or wholesale business)
  • Toiletries and personal care items(soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, lotions, razors, etc.)
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Disposable diapers (even from opened packages)
  • Fruit from people’s trees (provided it hasn’t fallen to the ground) and vegetables from people’s gardens
  • New and gently used children’s books for our children’s bookshelves

We are happy to match donors with other charities that need these types of donations.
