Our success at JFS is made possible by the ongoing support of people like you. We offer a number of specialized giving opportunities throughout the year, designed both to meet the unique needs of our clients and to create a meaningful partnership between our generous donors and JFS as we work together to strengthen our community.
Save a Family:
Save A Family funds go directly to providing services to those in need through one of our many diverse social service programs. JFS provides vital assistance and hope for those who despair including counseling for those who are troubled; food for the hungry; vital case management services and dignity for the frail and elderly; a safe haven for survivors of family violence; shelter for homeless families; alcohol, drug and bullying prevention for children through school based programs, and so much more.
Child & Family Services:
Our skilled therapists work directly to address the needs of children, teens and their families in individual or group settings. We provide school-based counseling services, working on issues such as bullying, depression and crisis intervention. We have care-giver, respite, abuse-prevention and mentoring programs as well as special programs for families dealing with divorce, job loss and other crisis.
Older Adult Services:
We provide a comprehensive array of services of older adults, with the goal of helping them remain healthy, active and independent. Our local neighborhood centers offer friendly, easy access throughout Los Angeles County. Programs also include essential mental health services, support groups, care management, special services for survivors of the Holocaust and social recreational activities.
Food & Hunger:
JFS strives to address the growing problem of hunger in Los Angeles. Through our SOVA Community Food & Resource Program, we provide free groceries and supportive services to individuals and families who struggle daily with issues relating to food insecurity. JFS also provides over 100,000 home delivered meals to frail & disabled homebound adults per year. In addition, we provide emergency food vouchers in crisis situations, provide food & groceries at our shelters and offer older adults and care-givers healthy, tasty meals at 11 “dining centers” throughout Los Angeles County.
Counseling & Support:
Professional therapists from JFS provide counseling and mental health intervention for children, teens, adults, couples and families going through life transitions to give them the tools to make positive and life-long changes. Programs include alcohol and drug counseling, divorce mediation, parent support groups and more. All services are offered on a sliding scale.
JFS provides counseling, case management and information to people with a wide range of disabilities. We offer support groups, education and social activities. We also help link people to benefits and programs for which they may be eligible.
JFS provides shelter for homeless families and battered women and their children. Emergency and transitional shelters meet families needs while giving them the tools to achieve long-term independence. To address the problem of domestic violence, we also provide a 24-hour hotline, individual and group counseling, case management, advocacy, education and consultation.
In addition to providing vital services to the entire community, JFS provides special programs to meet the unique needs of Jewish families. Programs include social programs for Jewish adults with developmental disablities, community holiday celebrations, support for survivors of the Holocaust and the Jewish Community Burial Program. Our Aleinu Family Resource Center offers confidential, culturally sensitive mental health resources for Orthodox children, teens and adults of all ages.
